So, I was at lunch with a friend and his sister after seeing ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, catching up on stuff and talk turned to the new series of Doctor Who - our expectations, Peter Capaldi, Jenna possibly leaving, the Matt Smith era - and his sister suddenly raises an interesting point.
"Isn’t the Matt Smith era kind of similar to Twilight?"
This caused both my friend and I to pause, and look at each other with a similar expression of puzzlement.
"Yeah - I mean the storyline is very similar," she continued "The main female character has to choose between two men from different races, makes her choice and has baby. Baby grows up abnormally fast, and ends up marrying the other man."
Despite how this theory glosses over some of the plot, it still kind of stunned me as I realisation slowly dawned on me.
I had watched a sci-fi variant of Twilight.
“How do you know Jack?” asked Rose suddenly.
“I met him…oh…fifteen years ago?” James replied promptly. “I…did some work with Torchwood, not too long after he started there. Actually, I met your husband a couple of times.”
“What?” she asked, stunned.
“Mhm,” he said. “Just sort of in passing, when he came to talk to Jack. He was a good man, though. Ridiculously smart, and really, coming from me, that’s saying something.”
“Yeah, Jack said something about that,” she said, skirting away from the subject of John. It was too raw of a wound at the moment.

I’ve done this sort of thing before. In small ways, saved some little people, but never someone as important as you. Oh, I’m good.
Little people? What, like Mia and Yuri? Who decides they’re so unimportant? You?

doctor x master (best enemies)
"I held him in my arms, I burned his body. The Master is dead." "And yet, you did not see." "Part of him survived."
The Doctor and Rose just complete each other. She had a humdrum life, with horizon no further than the chip shop, and he showed her the universe. She’d been so fiercely loyal to her mum, Jackie, and her boyfriend, Mickey, that she’d rarely looked beyond the confines of her council estate. Life with the Doctor allowed her to unlock all the passion and adventures inside her, though my favourite thing about Rose is that she was never a saint. She always kept a fantastic, ruthless, selfish streak at heart, which helped her to survive and never give up.
At the same time, the Doctor was damaged and scarred after the Time War and Rose taught him compassion again. She took the Doctor from being an introverted loner, who’d run away from any contact with her family, to the man who sat down and had Christmas dinner with Jackie and Mickey. In a way, she healed him, and made the Tenth Doctor out of the Ninth, which forged and incredible bond between them.
